My Background

Before we get into the ins and outs of how I can help you in your present situation, let me tell you a little about me and my practice.

Considered among the best in their profession, Super Lawyers represent the top 5% of the practicing attorneys in Texas. The Texas Super Lawyers for 2004 were selected by their peers in an extensive nomination and polling process conducted by Law & Politics and published in a special advertising section in the October 2004 issues of Texas Monthly and Texas Super Lawyers magazine.

First, let me tell you about my credentials. I am a board certified specialist in both consumer and business bankruptcy. To become a certified specialist, I had to have years of experience with all kinds of bankruptcy cases, many hours of trial experience, and I had to pass a series of advanced examinations and receive recommendations from bankruptcy judges and attorneys. Many attorneys you may come across in your search for help are not certified in bankruptcy at all; only very few are specialists in both business and consumer bankruptcy. That may not seem important, but many attorneys won't handle a business case or a case with any problems. Hopefully, your case will be problem free, but isn't it reassuring to know that if a problem does arise, you've hired someone who can handle it?

In addition to my bankruptcy credentials, I'm admitted to practice in federal Tax Court. Bankruptcy can be a valuable tool in eliminating, reducing, and restructuring some taxes. Because of my combined knowledge of both taxes and bankruptcy, accountants and other tax practitioners regularly refer their clients to me to see how a bankruptcy might help with their tax problems.

I'm also an A-V rated attorney (awarded by the votes of fellow attorneys in recognition of outstanding legal abilities and the highest ethical standards), a founding Master of the Dallas/Fort Worth bankruptcy Inn of Court, a former president of the Dallas Bankruptcy Bar and chaired the Courthouse Liaison Committee for that bar for a decade.

I practice in both the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas; many attorneys don't. So no matter where you live — in Dallas, Denton, or Plano or the surrounding counties in North and East Texas — and no matter what kind of bankruptcy relief you need, I can help.

I've devoted my career to bankruptcy for over thirty years. I was a bankruptcy Trustee for ten years, and I've helped thousands of individuals, families and business owners break free from the pressure of overwhelming debts to take back their financial futures.

Beyond the degrees, I've also shared many of your experiences. I'm a married mother of three, a working mother obviously, and before all that, I worked my way through college. I know what it's like to juggle time and money and to try to hold a family together in times of crisis. I know how overwhelming financial pressures can be, and how a job loss, or illness, divorce, or a family problem can consume all of your resources and throw you into debt you will never be able to repay, especially as late charges build and interest rates skyrocket. Bill collectors, tax levies, repossessions and foreclosures can drive you to despair, but bankruptcy can help you to get a handle on your debts either through Chapter 13 bill consolidation or through a straight bankruptcy under Chapter 7.

A Message from Judith.

I say welcome, and mean it, but I know you would love to be doing something else right now, anything but reading about bankruptcy. I do know how you are feeling. I have helped thousands of people who found themselves in your exact situation, are now over the ordeal and are enjoying their lives once more. They have been given a fresh start on life. After all, that is what the bankruptcy laws were designed to do - give you a new start.
